The Story of One Mother's Longing for the Healing of Her Daughter and, Through That Journey, Finding Healing for Herself

Marilyn always knew she wanted to be a mother. What she didn’t expect was that she would be raising a daughter with cerebral palsy.
Determined to give both her daughters a sense of normalcy, Marilyn refuses to accept the doctor’s verdict that Julia will never walk. If Western medicine has no answers, she’ll find her own.
That search led them down unexpected paths through alternative therapies, unconventional treatments, small triumphs, and discouraging moments. Along the way, there were tears, laughter, and moments of God's grace that no doctor verdict could define.
But as hope stretches into years and certain strains take a toll on the whole family, the question lingers: How much sacrifice should they endure?
In this heartfelt memoir, Marilyn chronicles a journey marked by persistence, heartbreak, and deep devotion, along with some moments of comedic relief and moments of wonder. But amid her search for her daughter’s physical healing, she finds something even more unexpected: a healing within herself and a new understanding of what it truly means to love and live.
Marilyn Kay has called Mid-Missouri “home” her entire life. First and foremost, she is a devoted mother whose greatest joy is spending time with her daughters. She lives out her calling as a licensed massage therapist, sharing her deep empathy and intuitive touch with every client she serves.
Outside of her profession, Marilyn finds joy in singing harmony with her church’s praise and worship team, spending time in her garden, and exploring new places through travel. Writing this memoir deepened her faith and drew her even closer to God, a journey she continues to cherish.
This book marks Marilyn’s debut as an author. The desire to share her story began more than twenty years ago, but she knew the journey was still unfolding. Now, that dream has become a reality. With her first book complete, she’s already envisioning the next chapter—her sequel, Lord, You Did It!
